After we had our daughter Lily in 2004, we soon discovered that finding a comfortable place to meet other parents where we could discuss our parenting challenges was difficult because few restaurants could accommodate a group of parents with their children in tow. We began to envision a café where caregivers could gather daily to find community and support while their children played together. As we discussed our idea with playgroup friends and family, we began to build momentum.
A year and a half later, Playdate Café is born. The 18-month gestation period was long and hard, but the strong foundation we have established is certainly worth the results. It takes a village to raise a child and to build a business. Partnering with local family experts and instructors to offer patrons the ultimate play café experience, we’re excited to share our new café with local families. We recognize the obstacles parents face in forming a community and the importance of offering a space where parents and caregivers can do just that.
Playdate Café begins with the idea that one of the best ways we can support our children is to nurture connections between caregivers and take time to nourish ourselves. If we show our kids that we take care of ourselves, they will too. Happy parents make happy kids…
